Annie Ratt Selected as Assistant Coach, Canada Games 2021 Niagara for Team Saskatchewan

It was announced on September 30, 2019 that the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Coaches had selected the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches that would lead the U17 male and female box lacrosse athletes at the Canada Games 2021 Niagara. The Canada Games will be the first time Box Lacrosse will be held. The Canadian Lacrosse Association has made it mandatory that at least 1 Coach must be Indigenous on each provincial team. Out of 24 Female coaches in Saskatchewan, Storm Lacrosse was pleased to learn that Storm Member, Annakah Ratt, member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, was selected as Assistant Coach for the U17 Female Box Lacrosse Team. Kiana Point: A Leader by Example

Kiana is a proud member of the Popkum First Nation. Playing since age 5 with the North Okanagan Minor Lacrosse Association, Kiana has given back to the association, refereeing games since she was 12 and more recently, being an Assistant Coach. National Championships are not new to Kiana. She played with Team BC Women’s Junior Team at the Female Box Lacrosse National Championships held July 21-25, 2015 in Calgary, Alberta. Team BC competed for 5 days and went undefeated and took home gold. This was Kiana’s first time playing with and against all female teams. She was 17 years of age. Naomi Plant: From NAIG 2017 to Aquinas Saints College

Naomi Plant played for the North American Indigenous Games in 2014 for swimming and in 2017 playing box lacrosse. As an athlete who actually did not grow up playing box lacrosse, Naomi picked up the game quickly due to her experience playing girls field lacrosse with her highschool. From there, the rest is history. When Naomi came to Team BC tryouts in January 21, 2017, she worked hard and become one of 20 athletes to play in the first ever female box lacrosse category at NAIG and bring home a bronze medal.
